MINISTRY TEAM
The Ministry Team provides leadership to and are involved in the various ministries of SOULeader.
Dr. Michael Bischof
Michael started SOULeader in 2000 as a ministry to empower wholeness in pastors, spiritual leaders, and churches. In addition to an M.Div. in 1988, Michael received a D.Min. from Fuller Theological Seminary in 2004 and spent two years researching and writing on “Holistic Formation for Spiritual Leaders and Their Ministries at the Beginning of the 21st Century.” Since entering ministry in 1987, Michael has pastored and lead at a number of churches and para-church organizations. Michael has pastored and lead at a number of churches and para-church organizations, and is also currenlty an adjunct professor at Azusa Pacific University and Fuller Theological Seminary.
Anjee Grimes
Anjee joined the SOULeader team after serving for a number of years as Pastor of Mobilization at University Praise Church in Fullerton. Anjee was instrumental in starting Serve Day (www.serveday.org), a growing movement mobilizing over 40 churches in southern California to come together in unity and serve missionally in their local communities. Anjee’s passions are for the missional formation of leaders and the holistic formation of families. Anjee has an MA from Talbot School of Theology, home schools her two daughters with her husband Jim, and lives in Fullerton, CA.
Dr. Jim Grimes
Jim is a therapist with Turning Point Counseling in La Mirada, CA and has a Psy.D. from Rosemead School of Psychology, Biola University. His experience in providing individual, couple, marital, family, and child therapy make Jim a specialist in emotional formation at many life stages. Along with his wife Anjee, Jim also has a passion for equipping parents to be the primary influence upon their children, helping them grow as whole persons in Christ.
Dr. Paul Kaak
Paul is a staff mentor with The Leadership Institute. He is the co-developer of the Organic Church Planters Greenhouse and has a passion that the church see itself as "GlobaLocal". Paul has been an adjunct teacher at numerous universities and graduate schools including Azusa Pacific, Fuller Seminary, and Chapman University. In addition to an M.Div. degree, Paul has a Ph.D. in Leadership from Andrews University. He is married to Kieva, is dad to Elijah and Jeremiah, and lives in Pomona, CA.
Jason Phillips
Jason currently pastors at University Praise Church in Fullerton, CA where he has focused on the formation of college students and young people. Jason’s ministry integrates the development of spiritual formation through a missional lens. He is currently working on a degree at Fuller Theological Seminary and is in training to become a spiritual director. He is married to Carol, has two daughters, and lives in La Habra, CA.
Ashley Powell
Ashley has provided her planning and bookkeeping services to several different entrepreneurial companies in Southern California. Her willingness and desire to coordinate events for her clients, along with her first-rate organization and personnel management skills has allowed her to become invaluable to those organizations she assists. Her passion is for event and wedding coordination, and yet she balances that passion with her knowledge in bookkeeping. Ashley serves SOULeader as its Event Coordinator and Book keeper. She earned her Bachelor of Science from the University of Southern California, is married to Paul, and lives in Mission Viejo, CA.
Paul Powell
Paul earned his Bachelor of Science and Master of Business Administration from the University of Southern California focusing on the development and management of smaller organizations. He has spent a number of years working at aerospace companies in a variety of engineering and project management roles. Paul's passion is for helping create effective organizations and helping individuals and teams identify and manage their personal inefficiencies. He is married to Ashley and lives in Mission Viejo, CA.
Don Toshach
In addition to being on the SOULeader Board, Don brings his many years of experience in pastoring and writing to the Ministry Team. Don has planted and pastored several churches, is an author, and has an MA from Dallas Theological seminary. Don is married to Carolyn, has three children, and lives in San Diego, CA.
Jim Wern
Jim is Executive Director of emersionlife, one of a growing number of spiritual gatherings focused on holistic ministry. Jim has pastored in Southern California for over 20 years and has worked in para-church ministry, training churches and leaders in a variety of denominational settings across the nation. He received his M.Div. in 1992 and has lead ministries to children, youth and adults. He and his wife, Donna have been married for 25 years and have four great kids. His broad spectrum of ministry and energetic personality bring fullness to the team.
Lyle Williams
Lyle Williams comes to SOULeader Resources having served in numerous pastoral positions during the past 41 years. He has also served as consultant for churches in transition. He earned his Theology degree at Indiana Wesleyan University and pursued graduate studies from Fuller Theological Seminary and Talbot Seminary. Lyle and Linda have been married for 41 years and enjoy their walks on the beach and just spending time together. They also enjoy spending time with their family that includes three adult children, two spouses and 6 fantastic grandchildren. Besides spending time one on one with pastors, Lyle also facilitates five pastor support groups. It is Lyle’s passion to come along side pastors to offer hope and encouragement and to see the Holy Spirit bring a “fresh wind” into the lives of those who minister.
